Thanks for your interest in submitting a marriage or wedding guest post to my blog.
Why write for this blog?
- You will get exposure to a lot of couples because I am aggressively promoting this website.
- You get a link to your website from a high quality, relevant website (things Google loves).
- You are helping couples with your wisdom and knowledge, and your content will help more couples find my At Home Marriage Prep Course. Let’s help couples get the best start on marriage that they can!
Here are some guidelines:
- You can write an article that answers a fairly specific question that couples typically have about your area of expertise. For example, “What Should I Wear to a Rehearsal?” Or, “What Are Some Ideas for Bridal Bouquets?” You can use Yahoo Answers if you’d like to see some examples of questions people are asking – but likely you already know.
- The article should be at least 400 words long.
- The article should be original content and not copied from elsewhere including your own blog.
- Supply an image or images if possible and especially if related directly to your article
- Include your bio at the end with business info and any links
- I may “adjust” the title of the article some for SEO purposes.
For those who would like to write more in-depth articles or guides:
Topics accepted:
Related to marriage and weddings.
Article/Guide Content Requirements:
- Original content not published elsewhere on the Internet. You cannot later publish the same information on another site, though you could use a “teaser” and link to the post. You could also make it into a PDF to download on your site.
- Valuable and thorough information that makes the couple say, “This is just what I needed.” Your articles/guides don’t have to be masterpieces of literature, but they should offer real help or insight.
- These articles are longer than typical blog posts and cover a topic thoroughly. There’s not a specific word count requirement, though I would think most topics would need at least between 750-1,400 words. It should be enough to cover the topic well and no more. Also see heading below: “Writing an Article or a Guide.”
- Well written, using as many of the article content suggestions immediately below as possible.
Article/Guide Content Suggestions:
- Interest getting title including the main keywords. Use of words like free, easy, secrets, and discover work well. Or using numbers, such as in “The 7 Things You Must Not Overlook When…”
- An interest getting lead paragraph
- Use of images if possible (must have permission to use the images)
- Use of personal experiences when you can. It’s better to give these articles/guides a personal touch rather than a straight-forward presentation of facts. That is, using personal pronouns some is effective, as well as first-hand knowledge, stories, and examples to illustrate points.
- Formatting: use of bullet points and/or numbered lists
- Short sentences, short paragraphs (3-4 sentences at most), simple words
- Use of subheadings with related keywords to the main keyword
- In addition to the link to your site, 1 or 2 links to authoritative/informative resources are ok. For instance, the guide I’ve written about marriage licenses has links to government sources.
- A question for discussion at the end when appropriate
Other:
- Any editing I do on your article/guide would be for formatting only, or tweaking keywords in the title or text.
- You can include at the end of your article/guide an author resource box of 60 words or less to introduce yourself, your services, and your website. Please use this space for self-promotion, not within the body of the article.
- Your article or guide may be used in a free ebook offering – with your links in tack.
- I cannot guarantee that your article or guide will be used on this site. If not, it’s released and you can find another site to post it on.
- A good site that I use to find the keywords couples search for most often is: http://www.promediacorp.com/suggester/ Just enter you topic and you’ll find the top terms and a long list of extended or related terms. These can give you ideas for subtopics to include in your article/guide.
Writing an Article or a Guide?
You may write an article on a subtopic within a larger topic. As mentioned above these might run 750 to 1,400 words.
However, writing a guide would require more. A guide takes a broader topic and covers it thoroughly with several subheadings. “Guides” will not only be posted with a link, but will be featured on the website.
Here’s an example of a wedding guide I wrote about Nashville wedding locations. http://marriagepreparationonline.com/the-best-little-guide-to-nashville-wedding-locations/
Your “guide” doesn’t have to be just like this one, since the nature of your topic may be entirely different. But the guide I wrote is thorough covering over 75 wedding venues with several different categories. If I had written an article instead, it might have been something like, “Unique Nashville Wedding Locations,” and so much more narrow in focus.
Here’s where you can find a topic to write about:
Wedding Topics
I decided not to list these. You know what you know. I would suggest searching the site first (search bar at the bottom of any page) to make sure someone else hasn’t already covered your topic.
Marriage Topics: (more coming soon, or suggest one now)
Marriage counseling in (specific city)
Marriage book review (you can choose the book)
If you are interested in participating, or have any questions, please let me know.
I also like to submit guest posts. So if you have a marriage or wedding blog and accept guests posts, please send me your requirements.
Best wishes in your endeavors!
-Ralph
